World by the Water: An Exhibition of Canada Water and Rotherhithe History
World by the Water: An Exhibition of Canada Water and Rotherhithe History
World by the Water: An Exhibition of Canada Water and Rotherhithe History focus on the history of Canada Water, Rotherhithe and the Surrey Docks. The temporary exhibition is funded by British Land and includes a range of special events (more details below).ย It will be open from 16 February – 1 March.
The landscape and history of Canada Water, Rotherhithe and Surrey Docks have been shaped over the centuries by water. Once low-lying marshland, this riverside location became a globally important commercial and maritime hub, with links to every part of the world. The exhibition will shine a spotlight on the area and showcase its unique history.
The exhibition has beenย curated with the generous support of local people and organisations, and especially an advisory group. We hope that both those who know the area well and those less familiar โ including the teams working on the Canada Water Masterplan โ will enjoy learning and reflecting on the stories which make the place what it is today and will continue to do so in the future.
It will includeย strikingย historic images, snapshots in time of places and personalities and personal memories and voices.
The exhibition is free of charge. Visitors of all ages and interests are welcome.
