Will Tuckett’s Nutcracker – The world’s first immersive ballet

 Will Tuckett’s Nutcracker

Will Tuckett’s Nutcracker (The premiere has been cancelled)

This winter, the worlds of classical ballet and immersive theatre will fuse for the first time, as Will Tuckett’s Nutcracker receives its world premiere at The Printworks London, Canada Water. Starring Adam Cooper (Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake) as Uncle Drosselmeyer, the production will invite audience members to explore Tchaikovsky’s Christmas classic in a 360-degree immersive environment. Suitable for those aged 5 and over, this is Christmas fun for all the family.

The production will unite the best of classical ballet choreography with new immersive theatre techniques, allowing the audience to interact directly with the story and the characters. Offering an alternative to traditional Christmas entertainment, Will Tuckett’s Nutcracker at The Printworks gives you the chance to not just watch but live a fairytale adventure.

The Printworks is a short walk from Canada Water station, easily accessible from the Jubilee Line or London Overground.

Will Tuckett’s NutcrackerMusic

Musical Supervision and arrangements by Andy Massey and David White as well as New Symphonic Orchestrations by Will Stuart will allow you to hear Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker like never before. Under the Musical Direction of Andy Massey, 10 live players from the CHROMA Ensemble will be balanced with a full orchestral sound utilising new music technology.

Director and Choreographer Will Tuckett described the sound world as:

“a bit like if you car-crashed Danny Elfman into Tchaikovsky”

This accessible and filmic re-orchestration will support the immersive nature of the production brought to life with a surround sound audio system designed by Chris Full, a pioneer in the immersive sound world.

[toggles title=”Click to read Frequently Asked Question“]

Q. What is immersive ballet?

Will Tuckett’s Nutcracker is the world’s first immersive ballet production, so it’s a very good question! Immersive ballet is an interactive ballet performance in which the guest is invited into the production, rather than simply watching it from afar. You are able to choose how much or how little you would like to get involved. Will Tuckett welcomes you to his Christmassy world to watch, dance, eat and drink as the tale of the Nutcracker is told around you!

Q. My ticket does not show my seat number, is this ok?

As the performance is immersive, seating will not be allocated. As an audience member, you can choose where you would like to sit, stand, move or dance!

Q: What is the age limit for the show?

We welcome children above the age of 5 years and adults of all ages. Any child under 5 years old will not be permitted into the auditorium so please ensure you do not bring children below the age of 5 to avoid disappointment on the night.

Q: How long is the show?

Nutcracker runs for a total of 90 minutes with no interval.

Q: Please can you tell me the opening hours for the Bar?

The bar will be open 1 hour prior to each production.

Q: How will I get my tickets?

You will be sent your ticket in an email – please download, print out and bring this ticket with you to the performance.

Q: I’ve lost my ticket/email confirmation?

Don’t worry. When you come to the show you can ask one of the Ushers or box office staff to print your ticket for you. Please bring the credit/debit card that you bought the ticket with.

Q: What does Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 mean

Tickets are priced to help managed demand for performances, so a Tier 1 ticket would be a performance at a popular show time or date. There is no change in the performance or experience between the tiers.

Q: Where can we find the Nutcracker?

Will Tuckett’s Nutcracker takes place The Printworks London, which is a short walk from Canada Water Station.

Q. I’m disabled, is this production suitably accessible?
