Rotherhithe residents’ information
The 38th annual edition of the worldโs greatest marathon takes place on Sunday 22 April 2018 and will require road closures and parking restrictions in your area.
More than 41,000 participants will take on the 26.2-mile course. Southwark will welcome runners just before the 9-mile point on Lower Road and they leave the borough at 12 miles, on Tower Bridge Road.
Advance warning signs will be displayed in affected roads in the build up to Race Day and stewards will be present on the day itself to help. Vehicle removals will start at 06:30 on Sunday 22 April along the whole of the route, so alternative free, secure car parking will be provided for residents.
Baconโs College on Timber Pond Road will once again provide a free, secure overnight parking facility. The car park will be in operation from 16:00 on Saturday 21 April until 16:00 on Sunday 22 April.
Residents will also have access to free, secure parking in the Brown Zone of the Surrey Quays
Car Park on Surrey Quays Road and Deal Porters Way from 16:00 on Saturday 21 April until 15:00 on Sunday 22 April.
Residents can return on foot at any time while the road closures are in place to collect their vehicles if they need to exit the peninsula. Residents who need access onto the peninsula can also use the parking facility.
Three vehicle crossing points will operate between 08:00 and 09:30 with a fourth point at Plough Way operating from 08:00 to 09:20. The vehicle crossing points will operate again at the end of the event while street cleansing is being carried out before the roads reopen fully by 16:00.
See the map below for details of the vehicle crossing points, as well as the exit and entry routes, avoiding the road closures, to Baconโs College and the Brown Zone of the Surrey Quays Car Park.
