Activities
Sheep shearing demonstrations
The Spring Fair highlights include the chance to watch sheep shearing demonstrations throughout the day. Head over to the sheep pen to see our sheep get their annual hair cut! Youโll then be able to see how the wool is spun, thanks to demonstrations from talented spinners from the London Guild of Spinners Weavers & Dyers.
Home made food
Enter for free through the Rotherhithe Street gates and youโll find home made bread being baked in the farm’s wood oven โ on sale warm from the oven garnished with wild garlic foraged from the Farm site.
Shop in the farm
Youโll then wander towards our Farm Produce, Cake Stall and Plant Stall. Make sure you bring some cash to sample the cakes, take home some farm-made jams and get ready to fill your garden with our vegetable modules and bedding plants. All funds raised here will go straight to supporting our projects for adult students with learning disabilities.
Around the edge of the yard will be a range of craft stalls โ perfect gift ideas, or a present for yourself!
Meet the animals
Head into the animal petting area for ยฃ1 and their knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to help you cuddle our rabbits, stroke a guinea pig or tickle a ferrets tummy! Theyโll also have our cheeky little bottle-fed lambs to say hello to.
If itโs time for another animal fix, buy some animal feed from the farm shop and head into their goat yard. The goats will be shut into a smaller area but you can still feed the adults and make sure you leave plenty of time to watch the very cute goat kids leaping about!
Children’s activities
Theyโll also have a range of activities to keep the children occupied including face-painting, bouncy castle and crafts.
Finally head to the river to relax with a view, or if youโre under 8, enjoy a ride on our donkeys!
Food and drinks
If you can tear yourself away from the lambs, make sure you check out the transformed donkey field. You can chill out on a straw bale, whilst sipping a drink from our bar (special thanks to Volden who are supplying the farm with a keg of their delicious ale) and munching on a burger from the BBQ!

About Surrey Docks Farm
Surrey Docks Farm is a working city farm in the heart of London. It occupies a beautiful 2.2 acre site on the south bank of the river Thames in Rotherhithe.
The farm is an ideal setting and environment for environmental activities throughout the calendar year. There is always something interesting to see at the farm, no matter what the season or weather.
The farm works with local communities and the people of Southwark to provide many unique opportunities for people to learn about farming, food production, and be actively involved in the ongoing working life of the farm.
Animals reared on the farm include a herd of goats, sheep, cattle, pigs, ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys, bees and donkeys. The herds, flocks and swarms are farmed with specific attention to animal welfare at all times.
There are a variety of green and horticultural attractions at Surrey Docks Farm. We have an orchard, herb garden, dye garden, vegetable plots, and the wildlife area. All horticulture areas of the farm double as educational space.
The farm prides itself on having an open animal yard where members of the public can interact with our goats, sheep and chickens. The open yard was upgraded in 2014 to facilitate a safe and clean environment for both our visitors and animals.
