Have you Written a poem or a short story that you would like to share with others?
Then now is your chance to enter Southwark Young Writers Competition 2016. The general theme is “What Makes Me Happy”
Young people aged 11 to 17 years can enter the competition to write a poem, short story, or letter about the general theme.ย Winners will have their work published on the Southwark Libraries website, you will also receive aย gift voucher and great book prizes and be invited to a special event.
So what should I write about?
Think ofย the theme “What Makes Me Happy” and you can include the following areas in your writing:
- This is whatย makes me happy
- How I see the world
- My future
What are the entry requirements
You must be 11 to 17 years to enter. Ask your parents to help you with your entry submission.
How many word should I write?
- Poems minimum 50 words, maximum 200
- Short Stories minimum 500 words, maximum 1500
- Letters minimum 50 words, maximum 200
When is the deadline submission date

Each person can submit up to 2 entries
