Violet Nights: Queer Activism Now
Thursday 27 June 2019 | 7pm | Royal Festival Hall Foyer | Free but ticketed
Across the world, campaigners and activists are pushing for change for members of the LGBTQ+ community, but what are we now fighting for?
Fifty years on from the legendary Stonewall riots in New York, and the birth of the modern gay liberation movement in the West, Violet Nights brings together a new generation of changemakers to examine and explore queer activism now and in the future, including award winning youth activist Tanya Compas, artist, filmmaker and trans rights campaigner Fox Fisher, and Dr Senthorun Raj, Lecturer in Law at Keele University.
The discussion is chaired by Amelia Abraham, journalist and author of Queer Intentions: A (Personal) Journey Through LGBTQ+ Culture.
Violet Nights is our social space for young people to express their views and explore topical issues through music, performance and discussion.

Hailing from a small village in the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, Eleni Era trained as a concert pianist.
Debut album Rise Love is a confessional collection of songs that the singer-songwriter has long kept close and is now ready to share across borders
