Ten Years of Long Poem Magazine

Join editors Linda Black and Claire Crowther and poets Mimi Khalvati, Anne Ryland, Mark Goodwin, Timothy Adès and Adnan al-Sayegh to celebrate the magazine’s 10th birthday.
Balladeers, modernists, surrealists, confessionals: any kind of poet can feature in LPM if their poetry takes skilful advantage of the glorious opportunities of the long poem. Ten Years of Long Poem Magazine showcases the variety and power of the form.
Issue 20 marks the tenth year of Long Poem Magazine. LPM is ambitious for contemporary poetry, reaching across continents to find the many ways of extending a poem, presenting the widest variety of stylistic approaches and attracting both major and emerging poets.

Friday Lunch: Alex Hitchcock Quintet

Pack your lunch-break with adventurous melodies and virtuosic improvisation from Alex Hitchcock and his powerhouse quintet.
The award-winning saxophonist has been described as ‘a fantastic talent’ by Jazz FM.
Jazz critic John Fordham called the group’s debut EP ‘an impressive calling card for a band with a bright future’.
The band came first in the Conrad Jazz Contest at the 2018 Umbria Jazz Festival.
Friday Tonic: BABii

Hear electronic music based on the theme of hiding and secrets from Margate-based artist BABii.
Co-produced by Adrian Sherwood, BABii’s debut LP HiiDE is due to be released in 2019 on the Death Waltz Originals label.
Some of the record’s tracks were heard in a remixed form on Iglooghost’s Diplo and Friends mix for BBC Radio 1, and were performed around the UK when BABii supported Iglooghost on tour last year.
BABii recently collaborated with other electronic artists including umru, Kai Whiston and Abi Wade to create more songs – some of which are already released, while others remain ‘HiiDDEN’.

Boogie Monsters

Bring your little monsters along for a Saturday afternoon dancefloor session with Boogie Monsters, the live rock and pop band for kids.
Get down to a musical mash-up of of chart hits, rocked-up action songs and funky nursery rhymes topped with disco lights.
Founded by Surrey-based professional musician and mum of two Kelly Smith, Boogie Monsters was set up to give kids the chance to see real musicians playing real instruments, and to get involved with the singing, actions and dancing.

Family Rise and Rave

Wake up and rave at an all-singing, all-dancing party for the whole family with DJ Anna Greenwood, playing classic dance tunes to start the day right.
Get on the dancefloor with Greenwood, who combines brilliant beats with sequins, spangles and sparkle. She switches between DJing and dancing to create a high-energy start to the day for all ages.
Megson Family Folk Show

Hear award-winning folk duo Megson’s infectious mix of heavenly vocals and lush harmonies in this gentle, entertaining concert for children.
The concert features children’s folk songs, old and new, from the duo’s When I Was a Lad album.
