Sands Films Music Room International Women’s Day 2021 Concert
Sands Films celebrates International Woman’s Day with a programme of music from women composers inspired by the spirit of the Belle Époque.
Celebrating female creativity, Cellist , Michelle So and pianist Eva Doroszkowska return with mezzo soprano, Miranda Westcott to explore a hedonistic mix of music.
Mesmerising melodies and voluptuous harmonies chart the creative thread of composers who were free thinkers and trailblazers of their time. Interweaving the charm of Amy Beach with the luxuriant lieder of Alma Mahler depicting poetry that embroiders a rich tapestry of imagination.
To contrast, colourful art songs of Poldowski’s are given new life with the trio ‘s own arrangements evoking the scents of Parisian and London life.
A livestream that reflects the heady days of a by gone age that summoned up the bravery of women seeking their place in the world for “We must have the gift of perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves” Marie Sklodowska Curie.
