ABOUT THE EVENT
Musica Nova International Music Academy presents a special programme of vocal and instrumental compositions inspired by the Dumka, a unique genre of Russian lyrical song.
Dumka’s history spans almost two and a half centuries from end of 18th century to our days. This nostalgic genre is making a major comeback to the concert venues in Russia and across the world through the Russian community and it is much welcomed in Great Britain too
Join in on a fascinating musical journey through Russia; from Tzar Nicholas Russia, the Red Revolution, post WWII USSR to more recent sophisticated new era Romances. This is a treat for Russian music lovers.
Songs (voice, guitar) are arranged and performed by musicians Evgenia Terentieva (mezzo-soprano) and Yuri Verevkin (baritone, guitar & piano).
All songs performed in Russian with general translation in English before each number.
Evgenia Terentieva (mezzo-soprano)
Winner of international competitions and prestigious awards (Queen’s Award from the British Council and Gold Medal F. Kafka award), President of the United Kingdom Branch of the World Association of Performance Arts (WAPA), Director of Musica Nova Academy and “Stars of the Albion” Competition in London.
Yuri Verevkin’s (baritone, guitar)
A multi-instrumentalist, a laureate of several international music festivals, has performed at leading concert venues across the world. While touring with Gypsy ensemble Yuri has made a unique golden collection of Russian Romances and Gypsy lyrical songs, which he recorded in Russia to the highest acclaim by audience, professional musicians and media.

Sands Films is a production space and recording studio. The Music Room concerts are delivered to a small in-person audience and live, online. We never charge for delivering art and culture: our events are free to access to all. However, we do rely on a certain amount of donation so we can pay technicians and musicians.
