Kiss My Genders: Youth Takeover Project

Design a youth takeover of Hayward Gallery with other people aged 13 – 17 in a three-week project.
Be part of the team who decide what our Youth Takeover Night of current Hayward Gallery exhibition Kiss My Genders looks like by exploring and drawing inspiration from the exhibition itself.
Over three weeks, you are supported by artists to devise an exciting evening bringing to light your ideas and sharing them with others in the Youth Takeover Night.
Kiss My Genders brings together over 100 artworks by artists from around the world who employ a wide range of approaches to articulate and engage with gender fluidity, as well as with non-binary, trans and intersex identities.
The artworks often move beyond a conventional understanding of the body, and in doing so open up new possibilities for gender, beauty and representations of the human form

Event information
The project is open to everyone
aged 13 – 17, and aims to create a safe space for individuals who
identify as trans, non-binary or gender questioning as well as cis male
or cis female.
The project is open to individuals of all artistic abilities. Participants are supported to create art and share ideas creatively throughout the project.
The project takes place on the following dates:
Session 1: Thu 20 Jun, 5pm – 8pm: Introduction to exhibition (meet at Hayward Gallery Main Entrance)
Session 2: Thu 27 Jun, 5pm – 8pm: planning your takeover event activities and ideas
Session 3: Thu 4 Jul, 5pm – 8pm: Planning and testing your takeover event ideas
Youth
Takeover Night: Fri 5 Jul, 5pm – 7.30pm prep; 7.30pm – 9.30pm: Final
preparations and testing, then hosting the takeover event for other
under-18s
Light snacks are provided at each session. We strongly recommend that participants join for all project sessions and the final Youth Takeover Night.
