Illuminate Rotherhithe 2017 will be launched by a community lantern procession on 23 November from 5-6.30pm. This will be a celebration of the diversity of our communities and a fantastic opportunity for everyone in Rotherhithe to get together. The procession will parade from Mayflower Park to the Brunel Museum via Albion channel creating a spectacular visual event. Families, friends and visitors will walk together as a joint community and kids will love it!

Make your own lantern

In preparation of the lantern procession, we have planned a series of free lantern making workshops, suitable for all aged 6 and above. These workshops will be run by the London Bubble Theatre at their workshop studio in Elephant Lane
You will be able to make a lantern in any of the workshops and collect it on the 23rd November to join the procession.
The lanterns are made from withies covered in PVA coated tissue. They take time to make but we are sure it will be a are very satisfying experience for adults and children alike.
Please be prepared to stay for the full length of the workshop and you may even want to come back for more

The procession passes along Albion Channel, crosses Albion Street and ends at the river bank behind Brunel Museum.
It will be accompanied by music from Les Zoings. Zanily dressed in fashionably up to the (last) minute, show-stopping costumes, Les Zoings are a marching brass band from S.E. London who play a medley of songs from around the world bringing musical frivolity whereโ€™er they walk.
