The Quay Players present Made In Dagenham

The Quay Players present Made In Dagenham. In June 1968, the women of Ford Dagenham went on strike for their right to equal pay. With the support of women all over the country, the actions of these factory machinists led directly to the Equal Pay Act 1970: enshrining the right to pay equality between men and women.

Exactly 50 years later, the gender pay gap is as prominent in the news as it was during the strike. So, come and join us in celebrating the Golden Anniversary of the start of our journey to equal pay. In the words of Rita Oโ€™Grady – โ€œif not now, when?โ€

โ€œThe recent 50th anniversary of this historic moment inspired our society to perform the Made in Dagenham musical and promote the bravery and courage of the Ford Dagenham women. Gender equality is still a hot topic today, so what better time to explore the history of Equal Pay through the medium of song and dance,โ€ said Director, Julian Phatarfod.

If youโ€™re interested, come and see this iconic show about a pivotal moment in history, a moment that is more relevant now than ever.

The Greenwood Theatre

Greenwood Theatre

Built and owned by the Charitable Foundation of Guy’s Hospital following donations from Sir James Mantle Greenwood in 1975, the Greenwood Theatre is leased by King’s College London for lectures, student productions and external client bookings.

Fully air-conditioned, the raked auditorium seats 450 people. The stage is equipped with lighting and sound provisions and a full single purchase counterweight flying system for theatre productions. There are a total of 6 dressing rooms of various sizes, from small ‘principals’ rooms to large ‘warm-up’ rooms, plus a make-up/wardrobe room and board room for meetings.

The theatre is used extensively during the academic year, for lectures between 9am – 5pm and then student performances from 5pm – 11pm every weekday as well as rehearsals on Saturdays. During the summer months, usually May – September, the college’s demands of the theatre are much less.

If you are interested in hiring the Greenwood Theatre, please contact the Theatre Manager on 020 7848 8629 to arrange a viewing of the space and to discuss any technical requirements. If satisfied the venue is suitable, then please contact King’s Venues on 020 7848 1700 to discuss fees, availability and to arrange the payment of a securing deposit.
