Brunel Cafe Exhibition -At Work by Gerry Grogan
At Work by Gerri Grogan
The Brunel Museum Cafรฉ Gallery presents a new exhibition at this unique art space: At Work,ย by Gerri Grogan
โAt Workโ is a continuation of a preoccupation with the River and its industrial role, both past and present. Looking at the ever-decreasing active working factories along the river, I have felt compelled to record in particular the still-functioning Tate & Lyle Factory. Seeing the moving cranes, loading and unloading, the array of vibrant colours moving against an otherwise grey and uninspiring backdrop has given me both a sense of history and a real physical enjoyment of colour for its own sake.
Most of my work is done from direct observation, trying to capture a fleeting sense of light, weather and time as well as elements of more solid and substantial industrial machinery, using oil paints, oil pastels and other drawing materials.
